Intended use: A general purpose nutritious broth capable of growing a wide range of bacteria and fungi. The single strength medium is recommended by the USP and EP for the sterility testing of pharmaceutical products. In concentrated form the medium is recommended for the validation of aseptic processes.
Typical formula (g/l)*: Pancreatic digest of casein 51.0; Papaic digest of soya-bean (meal) 9.0; Sodium chloride 15.0; Dipotassium hydrogen phosphate/Dibasic potassium phosphate 7.5; Glucose monohydrate/Dextrose 7.5
Formula conform: latest version EP/USP (when diluted 1:3)
Interpretation: After 1:3 dilution, growth in the medium is indicated by turbidity compared to an uninoculated control. Subculture to appropriate media for identification.
